Admissions Diploma Course (3 Credit Hours)

1.Principles of Epidemiology
Duration 4 months (Once a Week) starting from: Morning=April 15, 2013; Evening=April 17, 2013

Is a comprehensive course in the basic concepts, principles of population-based epidemiologic research, which serves as a foundation for subsequent courses in epidemiology, biomedical research, and quantitative methods, emphasis is given to study design, quantitative measures, statistical analysis, data quality, sources of bias, and causal inference. The general approach of this course is both theoretical and quantitative, focusing on the investigation of disease etiology and other causal relations in public health.
2.Introduction to Biostatistics
Duration 4 months (Twice a Week) starting from: Morning = April 16, 2013; Evening April 19, 2013

This course will make use of case studies to discuss problems and applications of biostatistics. Topics will include cohort and case control studies, survival analysis with applications in clinical trials, evaluation of diagnostic tests, and statistical genetics. The course will conclude with a survey of areas of current biostatistical research in public health. 

3.Research Methodology
Duration 4 months (Saturdays only) starting from: 20th April 2013

The aim of this course is to introduce the basic concepts and methods of epidemiological research and to train the students in the design and conduct of original research addressing health. The students will apply epidemiological research methods and acquire the skills of proposal writing, data collection, data analysis, interpretation and presentation of results and research report writing in public health.

4.Economics of Health and Health Care
Duration 4 months (Saturdays only) starting from: 20th April 2013

This course provides the basic working knowledge of concepts such as demand, supply, marginal benefit, cost benefit analysis and how these very concepts affect health in today world. Whether we talk about not meeting the millennium development goals, where we are making the decision of stretching the rupee to the maximum providing better health for everyone. Economic of health care would be beneficial for those in academia in NGO, in international agencies, in hospital management and in hospital administration.

Disciplines: Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Medical Technology, Bio Medical Engineering or other Allied Disciplines etc.
